When I Come, Will I Find Faith? Part 10

A Journey Toward Perfect Trust

Part 10

Continuation of our Study of Hebrews Chapter 12 and its application to “Perfect Trust.”  All scripture taken from the Complete Jewish Bible.

Heb.12:25-27 “See that you don’t reject the One speaking! For if those did not escape who rejected him when he gave divine warning on earth, think how much less we will escape if we turn away from him when he warns from heaven. Even then, his voice shook the earth; but now, he has made this promise: “One more time I will shake not only the earth, but heaven too!” And this phrase, “one more time,” makes clear that the things shaken are removed, since they are created things, so that the things not shaken may remain.”

It is true that God has been warning those of us who have ears to hear and eyes to see.  He is warning of the coming of the end of the age and the necessity for each of us to choose our destiny.  It is God’s perfect will that each of us submit our own personality over to Him so He can mold us into the image of His precious Son.  Christ said he wants to come and make His abode in our hearts.  Many people miss the deep meaning of this statement.  He wants us to be AS HE IS.  In the likeness of His Father.  That means if we are honest and take a good hard look at our personality, we may say “well, I think I’m okay”.  I’m a good person.  I even read the Bible regularly, I pray and I repent of my sins.  Is that what Jesus is saying?  Not at all.  What He is saying is: I WANT TO COME INTO YOUR PERSONALITY AND SWEEP IT CLEAN.  I WANT TO TRANSFORM YOUR PERSONALITY INTO MY PERSONALITY SO THAT WHEN PEOPLE SEE YOU, THEY SEE ME!  This is a difficult concept for some to understand, but when you look back on the life of Jesus as He walked on this earth, He drew people to Himself everywhere He went.  They were drawn to His personality, to who He claimed to be, to what He said, and especially to what He did.  The Bible says Jesus learned obedience by the things He suffered.  Let me suggest to you that the transforming of our personality into that of the Son of God is through the things we suffer as well.  We learn obedience to the Father through the difficulties in life.  That is where we learn to trust His ways.

I have been going through this personality transformation for sometime now and I’m coming to truly understand the importance of the Refiner’s Fire especially in these last days.  I can tell you, it’s not fun, it’s not comfortable and it certainly is not something you want to encourage unless you are truly ready to accept that all that is in your personality must be transformed so the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit can come live together in you.  I’m not saying you’re not saved until this happens.  What I’m saying is repentance and acceptance of the sacrifice Christ made for you on the cross is only the beginning.  When Jesus told Nicodemus he must be born again, this was a very profound statement.  In the past, I equated that to accepting Christ as my Savior.  It’s so much more than that.  What Jesus meant was this.  You have been born of a woman with the personality of your father, mother and ancestors.  This is your human legacy.  That legacy comes with all the falacies of your ancestors.  As is said in the Scriptures, “the sins of the Fathers are visited on the generations, up to the seventh generation.”  God wants to transform those sins in your personality.  Some may wonder why people have a predisposition toward alcohol, pornography, lying, stealing and the like.  These are sins that you may even hate but find yourself committing them anyway.  God wants to change all that.  He wants to take our legacy from Adam and Satan and transform that into our eternal legacy from the Father, His personality.

I have to say this journey has not been easy, but I would not trade it for anything else.  As I look back on my life, I see so many places where I was fighting the transformation God was encouraging me to make which made my life so much more difficult.  If I could go back, I’d like to think I would have made much different decisions even knowing they would be the harder choice!

In this Chapter of Hebrews it states “And this phrase, “one more time,” makes clear that the things shaken are removed, since they are created things, so that the things not shaken may remain.””  I submit to you that the things in your life that need to be shaken to prepare the way for God’s personality to be formed in you will truly leave the things that cannot be shaken as this evil world is judged by the Almighty God in these Last Days.  Your human personality must be shaken to make way for the personality of the Most High God to reign in your life.  He does not want to change who you are, He wants to complete who you were created to be!
